Project Description
The Mott Block redevelopment efforts revitalized an entire block on downtown’s main street into 42,000 square feet of office, retail, and residential opportunities. The first project began in 2008 with the renovation of the Blackstone’s building, a decades-long vacant clothing store, into a full-service restaurant that has become a downtown staple. Blackstone’s has a full bar and regularly features live music and entertainment. The building’s original interior features were preserved with exposed brick walls and an original steel ceiling that soars 23 feet above a stained concrete floor.
The second phase of the development included demolishing a previously vacant building to construct a new $5.2 million mixed-use structure called the Wade Trim building. Named after an anchor commercial tenant that occupies the entire second floor of 8,500 square-foot office space, the building has served as a hub for small businesses downtown and spacious residential lofts. Additionally, the building includes plaza space that has become a gathering point for downtown public events throughout the year.
