Uptown Reinvestment Corporation

About

Uptown Reinvestment Corporation (URC) is a Michigan non-profit organization which was established in 1999 with a mission to create economic opportunity and a vibrant community by redeveloping downtown Flint into an attractive area to live, operate a business and enjoy entertainment as a resident or visitor. To accomplish this, URC works alongside public and private partners to plan and implement projects focused on economic revitalization and job creation in downtown Flint and surrounding areas. Through acquisition and maintenance of key properties, enhancement of public infrastructure, or in some instances blight removal, URC can positively influence key developments throughout the downtown area. This approach has resulted in new mixed-income housing that increases home ownership opportunities in Flint, community buildings that promote health and wellness to Flint residents, support for arts and cultural institutions, and activation of small business startups. Over the last ten years, URC has also provided its expertise and services to other Flint-based non-profit charities who need assistance in undertaking complex real estate transactions, including securing financing and managing the construction process.

Events – Brush and Rotary Parks

Did you know you can reserve Brush or Rotary Park for events? These greenspaces around the Flint sign and on the corner of Second  and Saginaw Streets offer a nice grassy area for a variety of events from yoga classes, pop-up summer events to larger events such as the annual Christmas tree lighting.

If the event is open to the public at no cost, there is no cost to use the space. If it is a charged/ticketed event, the fee for the space is $100.00. All renters must provide a refundable security deposit, signed user agreement and proof of liability insurance. For larger events that would require city accommodations, please contact the Flint DDA https://flintdda.org/, and the City of Flint https://www.cityofflint.com/ to complete their application at least 60 days prior to your event. For more information, please call (810) 238-5555, or email leasing@uptownflint.org.
